Kent Cooks Culinary Competition Gets Well Underway!

Amidst the sweltering heat and threat of thunderstorms, school pupils in Kent have been cooking up their own storm in the kitchen as part of the county’s official school cookery competition, Kent Cooks. Joining the judging panel, along with other local business leaders, is none other than our very own Suzanne, who you can see here getting stuck in with a rather shiny but sharp looking knife…

Suzanne, who you can see here getting stuck in with a rather shiny but sharp looking knife…As well as her Paul Hollywood style role on the panel, SHC is also proud to be a key sponsor for the MasterChef style cooking competition. Suzanne comments, “As a PR and marketing company specialising in the food industry, it is a pleasure to support an initiative which celebrates creativity in the kitchen.” No stranger to the food industry Suzanne has a Home Economics diploma and has worked in some of London’s top PR agencies specialising in food before starting her own business in the late 90’s. She adds;

“Food is such an important part of life, and the ability to cook is a truly invaluable skill. Throughout my life, cooking for family and friends has been very dear to me.”

The panel have been preparing their pallets to taste the culinary delights from the competition’s three categories – primary, secondary and family – which requires entrants to prepare either one or two dishes. The budding young chefs, all aged 19 and under, are encouraged to stick to a set budget and incorporate locally sourced ingredients to produce a healthy recipe in a bid to impress the judging panel.  You can check out the progress of Kent’s most exciting cooking competition in a video here.
