The Background
Petainer is a specialist engineering and technology business, an industry leader in the development, design and manufacture of PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) food and beverage containers.
The company creates plastic packaging using unique blends of highly engineered PET, which is stretched to reduce the weight of the packaging but without any negative impact on strength and performance. This offers global brands advantages in terms of both cost and sustainability.
Petainer is a UK-based company with modern production plants in Sweden and the Czech Republic, blowing facilities in Russia and Australia, as well as sales offices in Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, the USA and UK.

The Objectives
To support Petainer’s evolving product portfolio and position Petainer as a thought-leader and innovator in the packaging sector.
The Strategy
Over a three-year period SHC delivered a comprehensive, on-going international PR campaign to build awareness and recognition of Petainer’s evolving product portfolio, partnerships and innovations. The campaign included trade media relations, setting-up and managing day to day social media activity, events support and identifying and setting-up third party partnerships and endorsement opportunities. Since 2016 the media relations campaign has been managed in-house with SHC retaining the social media campaign which continues to engage and grow followers online.
The Results
SHC put Petainer on the media radar by creating a flow of relevant news stories, features, and case studies. Petainer now has an informative and active social media campaign using Twitter and LinkedIn. The team’s contacts have meant Petainer has been introduced to WaterAid and The Carbon Trust with a view to building future partnerships.
