RPC finalists in innovation and sustainability awards

RPC bpi protec’s and RPC M&H Plastics were finalists in the biennial EPRO (European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Operations) Awards celebrated at the Identiplast gala dinner in March 2019.  Entering both the Innovation and Sustainability Awards respectively the RPC products were amongst the final four finalists in their categories.

X-EnviroShrink made with SUSTANE, from RPC bpi protec, sets new standards in shrink wrap flat film technology as it combines recycled content with 100% recyclability.  It contains 30% Sustane and 20% post-industrial recyclate.  X-EnviroShrink is used to shrink film wrap products ranging from beverage cans and bottles to canned food and cartons. SUSTANE is a game-changing new material made from post-consumer recyclate as well as being 100% recyclable itself, making it fully in line with the latest government proposals for plastic packaging. SUSTANE is comparable to prime material in its performance, look and feel, function and strength.

Garçon Wines’ innovative rPET Flat Wine Bottle from RPC M&H Plastics offers its customers the unbeatable sustainable opportunity to slash carbon emissions and business costs from the wine supply chain. Made using 100% post-consumer recycled PET plastic, and fully recyclable after use, the bottles conform to traditional wine bottle shapes but are 40% more spatially efficient and 87% lighter than round, glass bottles of the same volume, meaning they require less space and energy along the supply chain. Importantly, the bottles respect the rich heritage of the wine industry and look beautiful on a dining table.

Anne Hitch, Communications Manager of RECOUP said of the Awards “RECOUP continues to work to educate both businesses and consumers on the benefits of recycling plastics.  We are delighted to see how RECOUP members are pushing the boundaries in terms of recycled plastics applications.   This type of work helps the recycled plastic industry deliver on the promise of better plastic resource efficiency, more circular value chains, and more plastic recycling.   Congratulations to RPC Group for being finalists in both the Sustainability and Innovation categories at the EPRO Best Recycled Plastic Awards.”

The EPRO awards recognise innovation and sustainability in recycled plastic products and raise awareness by showcasing the latest product innovations.  The awards recognise the diverse application of recycled plastics and provide a great opportunity for the industry to demonstrate their commitment to the environment through the use of recycled materials.
