International Paper welcomes local MP to Winsford factory

On Monday, 25 April, International Paper Foodservice Europe welcomed Antoinette Sandbach, the Member of Parliament for Eddisbury, to its Winsford factory. The occasion marked the completion of the company’s recent multi-million pound programme of investment in new technology at the facility.
International Paper Foodservice Europe manufactures paper cups and food buckets in Winsford, as well as ecotainer® cups, a biopolymer product range that is certified as compostable in an industrial composting facility. Research and development projects are also co-ordinated there for projects across Europe.
Antoinette Sandbach MP toured the facility and watched as cups, containers and food buckets were formed. She was particularly impressed with the new food bucket that International Paper Foodservice Europe has developed in partnership with KFC UK and Ireland. This product uses a grease-resistant lining instead of the traditional polyethylene to improve food presentation and an alternative paperboard that achieves a high gloss finish for maximum visual impact but without the addition of a plastic coating. The food bucket was Highly Commended in the innovation category at the recent Foodservice Packaging Association industry awards.
Antoinette Sandbach congratulated International Paper Foodservice Europe on its significant investment in the factory and the local community. This translates into jobs for local people and new full time employment has been generated in the business as a result of the investment programme. On site the company now employs people working across a number of disciplines, including administration, production, product design and development, sales and marketing.
Mike Turner, Managing Director of International Paper Foodservice Europe, said:
“We are very proud of our factory here in Winsford and the high quality products we manufacture for supply to the foodservice industry in the UK and across Europe. I am sure I speak for the whole team when I say we are honoured to have welcomed Antoinette Sandbach MP here today to see the work we are doing.”
