Sava the Flava of the New Generation of Caribbean Patties

The Caribbean answer to the Cornish pasty – with a little extra oomph!

Inspired by the hugely popular Jamaican Patty, a product well established in UK convenience stores since the early 1990’s and more recently in selected mainstream supermarkets, Caribbean Flava launches a contemporary version of the traditional Jamaican Patty. Using selected, leaner meats, marinated in a range of herbs and spices, specifically blended from scratch to complement the filling, the new filling adds tiny, soft chunks of sweet potato, english potato, carrots and onions – all freshly prepared from scratch. The all important pastry surround is still the traditional golden coloured, spiced shell, but in a light Flaky crust.

The Caribbean Flava Patty weighs in at 155gm - bigger and better than ever for all to “sava” and is available in retail boxes of 24.

Sold frozen for the bake off market (20-25 minutes in the oven) and also baked and chilled for the takeaway snack market– it provides a quick route to a tasty treat.

“The large patties are often eaten as a hand-held snack on the move and a couple make an excellent meal as well,” says Carol Stephenson, Founder of Caribbean Flava. “Our cocktail sized Patties are terrific when entertaining and we supply a lot to caterers and themed events”, she adds.

One quick supper suggestion for a couple of the large patties is four or five thick slices of roasted butternut squash, sprinkled with cinnamon and chopped fresh parsley, plus a side salad.

As starters, three cocktail patties can be garnished with a handful of cress, sweet pepper batons and sliced tomato. A spoonful of pepper jelly, mango chutney or any tangy condiment ideally complements the flavours of the patties.
